Plant light

Jennt32(9b)August 13, 2012

I just purchased a GE plant light 60 watt. Specialty number 90413. Is this going to be good for me to help keep my plants alive in my house? I live in a town house with low light and love to keep plants around. If so should I keep the light aimed directly on the plants if no what is the best lighting for this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

I use 48" shop lights from one of the big box stores. I have some metro shelving, with fixtures above each shelf. You need as much light as possible on most plants to keep them going indoors. You need to maximize the amount of plant surface that's exposed to light. You don't say what kind of plants you have - large, like a schifflera, or smaller like violets or small orchids? A lot of plants need to have the light no more than a few inches above them.
