fava bean planted brown seeds ~ got green seeds

Vinh(9)July 21, 2010

I planted a brown seed fava bean, and interestingly, all the beans from the plants are green. The original seed package was simply labeled 'fava bean,' and I only planted this one kind of fava bean. Has anyone else experience this?

Did you let the seeds dry in the pod? Or are you picking them fresh for eating? Before they dry, my favas are green as well, even though they were planted from brown seeds. As they start getting older in the pod and dry, they turn brown.

Interesting, indeed! Well, that's all I had as a theory anyway. :) Maybe someone else has an idea?
