Got the Second Crop in.

iam3killerbs(7 NC Sandhills)July 7, 2009

This morning I put in my second crop of beans. The ag agent said to plant them in May and July, so I did.

I put in Sequoia and Dragon Langerie. I'd like to find space for some more Royal Burgundy but I don't know where I could since I have to get space ready for the fall crops.

Next year I will plan better and put the first beans in the area that the winter squash vines will later overrun.

Was your first crop bush beans? They must have been if they're already finished! My pole beans are still cranking out waxes and greens. Yesterday I picked the first small handful of Romas and am waiting eagerly for the limas and field peas to begin producing. When the wax and green beans are heading for their sunset days, for a fall crop I'm going to plant Alderman peas where they're growing now.

My first crop was indeed bush beans -- Dragon Langerie and Royal Burgundy.

I have Trionfo Violetto pole beans but they're being overrun and choked out by hyper-agressive Armenian cukes that were sharing their trellis.

Next year I'll know better. LOL
