Complementary plant for beans?

rosie99(z6VA)July 5, 2008

My garden is not doing well at all this year-what can I plant next to my climbers(beans) to help them out? (I think we're getting too much rain)

Thanks in advance!

Savory (winter or summer) is a good companion--also basil.

Below is a chart for companion planting. Mint would be a double edge sword. It can handle a lot of water, but it is very invasive.

Here is a link that might be useful: Companion Planting

Thanks susaneden and booberry85 for the info! I've been digging and planting and picking rocks for a long time and sometimes one thing or another gets lost in the jumble. :D

THANKS MOM!

Corn beans and squash or pumpkins are companions. the beans climb the corn stalks that grow in hills and the squash fill in the ground between the hills. Some people plant radishes near the pumpkin and squash plants to repell the sqash bugs . good luck
