Tiger lilies... Are they or aren't they ditch lilies?

summerhobbitOctober 1, 2007

Looking for names to consider for my next daughter.

Tiger Lily is a big contender, til I read they are also known as ditch lilies.

I do not want to think of my daughter and "found in ditches"... This just gives me the creeps.

Please clarify. Are Tiger Lilies and ditch lilies the same thing?

In some parts of the country, some people call ditch lilies (Hemerocallis fulva) tiger lilies. Here in VA, what we call Tiger lily is Lilium tigrinum. And we call the Hemerocallis fulva-- wild daylilies, not ditch lilies. So it just depends on where you are, I guess :-)
