growing pole beans indoors/ pollination

hemnancy(z8 PNW)October 9, 2008

I am setting up an aquaponics system, which uses fish wastes for fertilizer and gravel beds to clean the water and grow vegetables. I want to grow pole beans indoors but don't know if they will self-pollinate or need some kind of intervention in the absence of insects. Anyone know?

Beans are self-pollinating. They do not require insects for pollination.

What about a suggestion for a pole bean that does well indoors? I like Jeminez, Uncle Steve, and Grandma Robert's Purple Pole bean. I would probably run the vine up and down in the space I have available.

We live near each other. My Insuk's Wang Kong were extra large this year and will grow in any envoirnment IMO.You can
have your choice of purple motteled and/or white seeds.
