Peanuts and Nitrogen nodules

chaman(z7MD)November 14, 2008

Peanuts utilise nitrogen from the nodules formed on the roots for the growth. This year I gave a creful look at the nodules to fond relation between # of Nitrogen nodules and the peanut pods.It is my general boservation that # of pods produced are more for the plant having more Nitrogen nodules on the roots.Plants under observation were of the same age.

Pic. of Nitrogen nodules.

Bigger plants tend to have larger root systems and therefore more nodules. The larger a plant is, the more peanuts it can support. Peanuts vary significantly from plant to plant based on disease load, environment, etc.
