HAVE: Longleaf and Loblolly pine

igozoom(DC/MD)October 5, 2005

Oops! I bought a $60 Longleaf pine and a Loblolly pine that was $30 or $40 buck and realized when I got home that the place I was thinking of putting them does not get nearly enough light for a pine. In fact, I realized that every square inch of my 1/2 acre is full to partial shade! Anyway, these trees probably cost too much for me to see if they will grow in partial shade (they won't). Anyone have some shade loving plants that they might want to trade? I'm mostly interested in native trees and shrubs, but ferns or anything woodland friendly have a home in my backyard!

Do you still have? My back yard is high shade but front yard is sunny--we might make a trade when the ground gets unfrozen?

HI
I have some southern magnolias, a dawn redwood.

I have been dreaming of a longleaf pine for years. I saw one (and only one) growing here in old Glen Burnie, MD. about 2 miles from the BWI airport.

Where did you buy your $60 longleaf, if I may ask?

thanks.
