Question about flowering

Why do some plants flower and others not? I'm referring to the same type planted in groupings. I have three Wide Brim in a group, only one of them flowered this year. They are all 4 years old. In another area I have 3 Brim Cup in a grouping, only one of them flowered this year.

Good question. I have some that flower every year;some that flower once in awhile,and some that have never flowered. It's the mystery of nature,I guess. There doesn't seem to a rhyme,or reason. The best I can offere. Others with a more scientific mind may chime in now. Phil

I have a Montana Aureomarginata, big, mature, beautiful. Never a flower in 15 years. Wish it would, I've seen pictures of their blooms and they are gorgeous!
