Help needed with maple ID

I've looked through a few tree books and the online sites and am having trouble identifying what maple I have. The main problem is the leaf shape doesn't look much like any of the pictures; the leaves are very rounded and blunt although every so often there's one that's more lobed.

I'm guessing the tree was planted when they built the house, so it's 35-40 years old. Must be 50-60 feet high and 30 feet wide although it would be wider if we didn't have it trimmed occasionally. Fall color is pretty ordinary; a mix of oranges, reds and browns. Doesn't seem to produce a lot of flowers/seed pods as compared to the red and silver maples.
