I am planning on growing Hyacinth Bean this summer- any pointers? (the vine with the purpal flowers and dark purpal beans) It looks like its pretty simple (full sun - decent water)
I grew them last year. The ones I started indoors did very well planted outside. I got lots of flowers, then purplish pods and then beans. The plants I gave my sister went real crazy, she got an ice cream bucket almost full of beans. They got regular waterings and lots of sun. I didn't any luck with any I wintersowed. Make sure they have a trellis or something to climb on.
I got some seeds from Julie last year and planted them at one corner of my porch in full afternoon sun. It grew like crazy and was BEAUTIFUL! Got lots of compliments on it and plan to grow it again this year. It really didn't require a lot of care, just watered when it was dry and let it go. Climbed up and across my porch railings, very pretty!
I am really looking forward to it- Thanks! (Now the challenge is finding room to grow it- oops there goes another 2x2 plot of grass.)
