NJ sea shore daisy-like shrubs?

biochem101April 30, 2009

We frequent LBI NJ and I've noticed these shrubs in many yards in Beach Haven covered with daisy-like flowers. They almost form hedges in some cases and seem to flower for an extended period of time.

Does anyone know what kind of bushes these are?

If so, do they only grow in sandy sea shore soil? Or could I grow them in eastern PA?

I haven't noticed them in my local nurseries, but maybe I'm not recognizing a small version in a pot?

They are called Montauk (sp?) daisies. I don't know if they will grow in PA; I never tried but they do thrive in the sandy soil.

Thank you! Now I've been able to find them online and it says any well drained soil, so I'm going to give it a try.

I'd tried searching every daisy-like flower I could come up with but none of them looked right. This is definitely the shrubs I see in Beach Haven.

Thanks again. :)
