storage beans

weddingdance(z7 MD)May 7, 2007

Hi All,

I'd like to grow some garbanzo beans, red kidney beans, and maybe some navy beans. Can I plant some beans from the bags of dried beans I buy at the store?

thanks,

lee ann

yes you can. I do not know if you will get bush beans or pole beans. Only problem I can think of is if they are old they may have poor germination.

Lee Ann, if you haven't already planted those, may I suggest that you try The Common Market in Frederick. If memory serves...you live in Jefferson, right? They have a good selection of beans that I believe are pretty fresh. They also sell seeds from 'High Mowing Seeds' in Vermont. I'm planting one called 'Jacob's cattle' today that I got from there.

Regards
