help me identify this tree

newbieshelley(Washington D.C.)June 24, 2012

This was a single stalk in the winter at my house in Virginia; I transplanted it and it bloomed this spring.

It's about two feet tall and east facing.

Can you help tell me what it is?

I have this all over!
I don't know, either.

You said it bloomed. What did the bloom look like?

Bloomed? Doesn't look like something that blooms. Looks like an ash seedling from one of the most prolifically weedy native trees.
Better to get rid of it now, all ashes are probably doomed by emerald ash borer unless they receive expensive treatments.
