how late to plant Japanese Maples?

spaceman13(6b)October 10, 2012

I have 2 Japanese Maples, Acer Palmatum 'Katsura' and 'Ueno Homare' that I currently have in pots. They are only a few years old.

Should I plant them now, or overwinter them and plant them in spring?

I'm in 6b and my fall planting frenzy has just begun- I am adding several new JM's.

Agree, in Z6 you can get away with planting now.

So long as you've got a good 2 months before the ground freezes, you should be fine.
