Kalimeris yomena 'Shogun'

This is new for me this year. It seems to be a slow grower (unless I have it in a spot it's not happy). My question is why are the new leaves the only leaves that are variegated? The older leaves end up solid green. Could it be too much or not enough light? Thanks, Ree
