Endless summer hydrangea Help!

jennypat Zone 3b NW MN(Zone 3b NW MN)June 29, 2014

Help, my endless summer is about 5 years old. It was fine last year, but I think the hard winter did a number on it. It is growing, but there are only a few leaves about 4" long at the base of the plant.

What can I do to help it along?

Thank you
Jenny P

My endless summers didn't make it through the winter. They were 7 years old. I've replaced them with the new Bloomstruck hydrangeas. Hope they do well!

Mine are OK. They are probably 5-7 years old, but they are by the house and I raked leaves on them in the fall. In the past, I was told to cut them back in the fall. I put some cuttings in a pot by a sunny window and some of them rooted and even budded in the spring. Last few years, I did not do that, because it took too long for them to bloom after cutting back. But, I think the rabbits ate all the tops last winter and therefore they still do not have any buds yet, hopefully soon.
