Hardy rose bush

em211June 2, 2014

Looking for a hardy rose bush to landscape with around the front of my home. Can anyone help with what you've grown successfully?

I have had great luck with Double Red Knockout Rose (18 of them), and Carefree Wonder (5), both shrub roses. After this past horrible winter of the Polar Vortex my roses all died back almost to the ground - that is a first. But they have ALL grown back from near the soil line. Now (mid June) they are just beginning to flower at about 1 1/2 feet high. They are shorter than usual now, but I am sure they will soon gain their normal height, since I always cut them down to one foot tall in spring anyhow. My garden is in Green Bay WI, zone 4/5.

You've probably done this already, but check out thread on favorite hardy roses just down the list here a bit.
