The market committee is meeting next week to discuss ideas for improving attendance and advertising next year. Any suggestions would be appreciated. There always seems to be a lot of smoke blown and no effects.
It's good to have an 'after market' meeting. Our markets do before, if any.
This year, my market didn't do anything except an ad in the weekly free paper than comes out to everyone in the county. I don't know if it helps any, people still aren't aware.
Can you make your market more visible? My market is at the back of a parking lot, not many people can see it from the road. I want to move it to the road side, but can't get anyone else to move.
One market that I was at was a college, one of the sponsors done a mass email just before market started each market day. You could tell which days she wasn't able to email. Made a big difference. I don't know if you could do something like that or not.
Also, I found that when the TV station came out to interview people, our sales jumped the next day. I wish they had mentioned it more and showed the interview before the closing of the market day. Even mentioning that they would be at the market, helped.
You might get a mention on what is seasonally available.
I also found that by posting on facebook what I will have the next day, helped me out.
Sorry for such a long post, but this is what I found. Good luck for the future year.
