General question on pots and cells

boonehillbillyNovember 14, 2010

I am in the process of building a "light room" to start plants for out farmers market next year and have a quick questions about yor markets. Do you sell more 3-4" pots of seedlings or the 4-6 cell trays? Thanks in advance

Yes I usually only sell 4" pots or bigger. I also have 1 gal and 3 gal. I sometimes have some 5 gal pots but very few. The 5 gal. usually go to people buying gifts for older people, so that nobody needs to repot later. It's ready to produce.

This year I will be targeting the 'community gardeners' with 3 pks. Hopefully that will bring in more customers.

What are you doing to build your 'light room'? What I did last year was to have several shelves and lights for my plants. I didn't dedicate a separate room. My husband said in Jan and Feb, he didn't get as depressed because he was coming home to LOTS of 'sunshine'.

I start well over 1,000 plants in my home each year, and this it looks like it will be lots more.
