Japanese Beetles

fredjohnson12July 9, 2013

I haven't seen one Japanese beetle on my rose bushes this year. The last 3 years I've had thousands of them. I live in Savage. Anyone else this lucky or is it just too early in the season for them.

Same here in St. Paul. No complaints.

Ooops, spoke too soon. Saw my first one this morning, defecating (or laying eggs?) on a cool Abraham Darby bloom. Squish.

We have seen just a few a day, nothing like last year so far. Is it just early or is there reason to hope it won't be as bad as last year?!

I was invaded by the horrible Japanese Beetle last year and I have only seen 2 and they flew away. I planted basil last year and they loved them so I did not plant any this year and this may have solved the invasion.
