I realize that I have a raging case of spring fever, but I need to move several shrubs...With the weather turning decent, is it too early to move them?
If the soil is not frozen , ands it's workable, then do it, before they leaf out, or flower. Here in Orland Park, in some spots the soil is still frozen about 4 inches, or more. Yesterday I was removing 14 Blue-bird boxes and it took some gorilla strenght to yank the pipes out of the ground , due to soil still being frozen.
good Luck, and enjoy the spring.
I am a volunteer ,have been involved with restoration of a tract of previous farmed land, aprox 900 acres which contains some ponds (about 4) - what would be the bird boxes (for what type of birds) that could be placed using chest waders into those ponds- I am thinking "wood ducks", but they also nest in trees away from the water.
