Something is eating my Rhubarb ALREADY!

waterlily_girl(4)May 3, 2014

Zone 4 in WI. We had a very cold winter and the soil temp is still to cool to plant - BUT my rhubarb plants are growing well - almost 10" tall on May 1. What in the world would be eating the leaves at this time of year? HELP!

Slugs are the usual culprit on Rhubarb. Beer traps or slug poison will work.

Mine get eaten once in a while in early spring too. I think it's either the wood chuck or some of the many deer we have. Once the other foliage comes out they tend to leave it alone.
