How to keep star jasmine
OK, I tried to find something on the forum about keeping a star jasmine in Zone 5, but no luck. I have a little one (about 2 feet) in a good size pot. I'd like to let it vine on my pergola, but I realize it can't winter outside. If I cut it off at the end of the season, will it grow long vines again in the spring? Or does it grow on previous growth only? Does that make sense at all? I just wonder if I let it go crazy now, snip it off and keep it in my greenhouse over the winter, if it will come back again next spring. Or would it be better to keep it "in the pot" and grow it on a form of some kind? If so, I wonder how big that form would need to be . . . I read that it's basically evergreen in the proper climate. I saw pictures this weekend of vines taking over houses. I LOVE the smell and would love to keep it around as long as possible. Does anybody have one?
