Saw my first japanese beetle yesterday here in central Indiana. Sigh.
Oww....sorry to hear that.
I also dread cucumber beetles. Last year, there were swarms of them and they ate all my flowers.
Yep, I first saw a few last Friday and they are slowly but surely increasing by the day. I squashed probably 30 this morning. We have bluebirds nesting in our yard this yr. and I am hoping (praying!) they will eat some JB's. We shall see but I'm not getting my hopes up too high :) Surprisingly haven't seen any cuke beetles though so I guess that's good news.
First one spotted yesterday on climbing rose. Fed it to the fish....
I killed one that was chowing on my hollyhocks...what can you use to kill these things if you want to go the organic route?
Killed two on Sunday and four today. Living behind a corn/soybean field, we get the by the boat load! Ugh!!
The worst part is that they love everything - not just roses, but clematis, geraniums, coneflowers, butterfly bush - everything!! I don't like to use chemicals, so I just dump them in soapy water and they die instantly.
