How deep to plant Dicentra cucullaria?

pitimpinai(z6 Chicago)April 8, 2010

I googled it and found instruction for seeds. But what about plants?

I just received some from a nursery, but don't have a clue how deep to plant them.

Should I just barely cover the eyes?

Thanks.

Haven't grown it myself but the bulblets of wild plants are typically at or just above the level of the soil. If there are no bulblets on your plants than I would assume the "eyes" are where old stems met the rhizome, and just covering them would seem appropriate.

Thank you very much for responding. I'll plant them as you suggested. It seems logical.
Thanks much. :-)
