ID help for a Wildflower in MA

Boston_noob(6a MA)May 6, 2013

Hi-

I stumbled upon this in woodlands near Boston while walking the dog. It was growing in limited filtered sunlight and has daffodil-like leaves. Any help in ID'ing is appreciated! :)

Thanks,
Paul

Daffodil - naturalized, not native. Could have come with some soil, or some garden club planted it, or it's an old homesite there.

Thanks! I just learned specifically, Narcissus poeticus. Strange though, is this is in the midst of a wooded forest, a good ways off the trail.

People sometimes plant strange things near trails for whatever reason. Another possibility is that there might be an old homestead in the area.
