Yaupon

chritziMay 2, 2013

Howdy everyone,

I am looking to make a home tea using the leaves of Yaupon Holly, but I don't trust myself to distinguish between wild Yaupon and Chinese privet (which is poisonous.)

I noticed a few old posts from people who had far too many Yaupon trees on their property and were trying to kill them; if that sounds like you, I'd be happy to help you clear them (or transplant them) in return for the leaves.

Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks!

- Chris

Yaupon (and all hollies) have alternately arranged leaves. Chinese privet's leaves are opposite one another.
