I have had this plant for 3 years and would really like to know what I have ..Planted in semi shade.

Sure looks like Rudbeckia triloba. Are the flowers 'black eyed susans' in the fall months?

Ok but make sure you leave a few plants scattered around. They are spectacular in fall but are best displayed in sun and alone.
