Plant identification

iasuttoAugust 26, 2013

Was wondering if anyone can identify this plant for me. Found this whilst hiking around a lake in northeast Oklahoma.

Could use a closer view. Were there any flowers or fruit/seed pods?

Looks like Eupatorum serotinum. Not a coneflower. But late season butterflies love this plant. Keep it until it goes to seed (or later, the songbirds eat the seeds).

Make that Eupatorium serotinum. I misspelled it and the edit feature is not working.
