Rudbeckia hirta Nutlets

midwesternerr(5)August 25, 2008

I collect some Rudbeckia hirta flowers today. The flower heads had lost all the petals and the stalks start to turn brown. Some flower heads have a gray color seed and some have a jet black color seed. Which color is the one that is good to keep?

Seed will look like something birds want to eat.
Scroll down the page, almost to the bottom, click on Images to view actual seed.
