Fall Flower Seeds - What can be planted?

Mrs_AgaNJAugust 12, 2005

Im interested in giving fall gardening a shot this year. Ive found some great posts on what veggies to try and Ive already got my seeds.

However, I would like to try planting some flower seeds to fill in bare spots and maybe get a jump on next year?

Any thoughts on varieties, either perennial or annual, that will work?

Thanks!

Andrea

Andrea, you might want to check out the Winter Sowing Forum. They make it sound like even I should get some good results with this. I plan on trying it this winter after having seen some of the great results other people have had. Here's a link to their FAQ page. -- Lori

I tried this last year with columbines and it worked incredibly well, except that I sowed the seeds in early July and then transplanted the seedlings in September. They survived winter with no problem.

Many bulbs can be planted now for spring blooming. Check out Brecks Bulbs online.
