plant/shrub in the woods of gwinnett county

kazbearSeptember 24, 2013

I love this plant but I have no idea what it is. the pics are not very good, but it is a beautiful small-trunked shrub of some kind with these beautiful green coated thorny branches. There are leaves of 3 at the ends. in areas I have seen it spreading out, but yesterday I saw it as a lone mini-tree. you can tell by my lingo I know nothing about plants, but this one calls to me and I want to know more. Help!?

Trifoliate orange? If so, not native.
