native plant hedge to screen compost container

shadysite(8)September 7, 2012

I work with a parish garden and we want to screen the compost containers from view. Need recommendations for 4 to 5 foot tall native plant hedge shrubs, easy care and easily controlled, shade to light shade, flowers and/or high attractiveness factor for birds and pollinators, no thorns or pirickers.

Zone 7-8 in urban/suburban washington, dc, environment.

Please send recommendations!

thanks, lisa

Purple flowering raspberry (virtually thornless)
Drooping Leucothoe.

See them in the DC arboretum.

How about Viburnums and Azaleas. They both have interesting characteristics.
