What traditional native plants are the best to grow in central and eastern Michigan?

Sun? Shade? Wet locations? Dry locations? Woodland? etc....

You may wish to give some details about where you are thinking on growing native plants. That will help people to answer your question.

Of course "best" is always subjective and varies from person to person. Twenty different people will give twenty different answers. If you are looking for something in particular, you may wish to say.
