Rare Jade Vine In Bloom This Month At Logee's

If you need an excuse to visit Logee's, there's this wonder to look at.

Jade Vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys) in full bloom

Unfortunately, you need lots of room in a greenhouse or conservatory to grow it (big monster), but it sure is pretty.

Sounds like a good reason for my first trip to Logee's! And since about 3 inches of snow fell on my RI land last night, no gardening there this weekend.

OK, I drove to Logee's, walked around in the various greenhouses, gawked at the exotic blooms (incl. the Jade Plant) and bought a hardy fig and a hardy gardenia. A very nice couple of hours of tropical fantasy.

Yes, it would be nice to visit Logee's and kickstart Spring (LOVE that smell of damp earth that you get inside a greenhouse)! Logee's is worth the trip because they have so many specimens that were planted years ago and very unusual plants.
