Root Shock or Autumn?

edlincoln(6A)October 10, 2012

I planted a Beach Plum a couple weeks ago. Now it only has three leaves, one green and two brown. Did it not "take", or is this just normal autumn leaf shedding?

What time of year does this tree usually lose it's leaves?

It was planted in Zone 6 and we had a lot of rain and no frosts yet.

Haven't grown this myself but premature leaf drop is not uncommon for newly planted shrubs. I wouldn't give up on unless it doesn't leaf out next year.
