groundcover

Does anyone have ideas for fast-growing groundcover? I would prefer an evergreen groundcover. Is ivy evergreen here? We are located in Reno & I have always used mulch everywhere as my "groundcover."

I am awfully tired of looking at mulch & would like to find an evergreen groundcover for my back hill, which slopes up from my yard. It is a rather dreary view from the house & yard... there has got to be something pretty, fast-growing, and preferably evergreen.

Without water, no. As for an evergreen groundcover, ivy is kind of touch-and-go, and usually looks very ratty from November to March if it DOES stay close to evergreen.

Also, if this is in full sun, it's got problems. Oh, wait...plant a low-growing Manzanita. It stays nicer and greener and is more tolerant of Reno conditions than most things. You will have to water a little bit, but not a whole lot.
