Looking for ash trees

hongkongcvDecember 25, 2011

I am interested in taking some pictures of ash trees. I understand they grow in zones 3 through 6... which means none in my home state of Alabama. Looking for state or federal parks containing ash trees and/or groves so I can get some good pictures... the nearer the better. Any ideas where I can look, possibly in Tennessee, Kentucky, or thereabouts?

Sadly, they are being cut down here in my part of NY State to slow the spread of the emerald ash borer.

From the USDA database, it appears that there are species of ash , Fraxinus, growing in AL.

You might contact your state forestry dept. about this.

USDA database shows 5 species of ash in AL.

Here is a link that might be useful: USDA Fraxinus species
