Most interesting to me was "...it did not prove a causal link. The reason for the association is yet to be determined."

In urban areas, trees and branches (usually older, rotting trees) fall on people. This could be as significant a health issue as the above article topic.

I specifically avoid a tree at SE 48th and Raymond. But people park their cars under it all the time.

Sporadic accidents befalling small numbers of individuals do not negate general daily health benefits to everyone.

Speaking of cars, people die in those all the time, without trees being involved.

..but the cause and effect is much easier to prove. And the numbers are probably not small; in the past 12 months, 3 major stories of trees causing injury in Portland alone, and not weather-related.

Parking under huge, rotting trees is more avoidable than is driving on the open road.

...and I suspect that if one did enough studies, human health improvements could be found in cities that have conducted Ailanthus tree removal campaigns.
