Shrubs & Roses

katie56April 14, 2007

The first of March we had temperatures in the high 70's, the shrubs & roses started to leaf & even the hosta plants shot through the ground. Now, the last couple of weeks it has been well below zero, with snow today, our grass which was really green has now turned brown, shrubs & rose leaves all turned brown. Will everything rebound from this shock, when summer arrives? Any thoughts would be welcome. Thank you in advance.

This late cold snap has been a big shock to lots of plants that were coming alive. I have roses that lost leaves and some leaf damage on other plants. If you have flowering shrubs that were already in flower those most likely wont bloom again. The good news is they will come back just fine, but will get a later start than normal. All we can do is wait it out. Good luck,
