Too late to direct seed poppies?

thesecretofjoyApril 21, 2009

I have some empty beds that I want to sow with poppy seeds I just bought. I know they need a period of cold and I've always sown them in the fall or winter before. Will sowing them now get me any poppies this year?

I would place about 1/2 the seeds in the freezer for 2-3 weeks, then plant them. If they don't grow, you still have seeds for planting in the fall. It's worth a try.
