Remove the leaf, put in in a ziplock. Then you decide whether to trash the leaf and wait see if anything else shows up or test it. (Do not compost the leaf.)

There's a real simple test. All you need is a magnifying glass and a glass of water. Just google foliar nematodes test.

Then you have to decide what to do. Everyone here has varying approaches. Some spray religiously. Others have given up and just live with the damage as it's late in the year. And, there's every approach in between those two.

That doesnt look like nematodes to me. My nemes idea usually show up as lighter yellow/ green areas with fuzzy borders, and proceed to more distinct brown streaks between the veins

Thanks for your suggestions bk. Your reply was what I needed to hear.

I went out with a flashlight, cut off the leaf and put it in a ziplock bag. Tomorrow I'll google the test and, from the result of that, decide which direction to go.

Thanks again.

Hi coll, it is on an older leaf, so maybe...I just hope it's not a virus...

Anyway, I'll look up the test and give it a try.

nems go completely side to side in a vein ... ergo.. not nems ...

its not a virus i recognize ...

i dont understand what the black/brown is ... but i wouldnt be overly concerned about it ...

and if it is one single leaf... i would probably conclude that leaf was damaged ... somehow or other .... virus or nems.. would be contained in one single leaf .. IMHO ...
