2/26 Drought Monitor Shows Some Improvement
I've linked this week's U. S. Drought Monitor below. It does show significant improvement in many areas...not that the recent precipitation has ended the drought, but at least it is nibbling away at it.
The biggest change is the large area of Exceptional Drought that dropped back to a lower category. The area that has dropped from Extreme to Severe Drought continues to enlarge too.
Next week we'll have a better idea of how the rain and snow impacted the state because some of the frozen precip likely didn't thaw out and melt down into the OK mesonet rain gauges prior to Tuesday's 7 a.m. data submission deadline.
