Irises, lavender & sage together?

harlemgardnerSeptember 24, 2010

I have a small iris bed, about three years old and just reaching maturity. I'd like to add something to it to make it more interesting after the irises have finished. It is near a busy sidewalk, and thought maybe something aromatic might be fun. Does anyone know any reason why I should not put lavender and sage among my irises?

I don't think there should be a problem. I have seen our native Southern Albertan Silver Sage at the Devonian botanic garden-and it have a wonderful fragrance. You live in zone 6b-you have more options than we do. If you want some fragrance try some of the David Austin Roses-some of these roses are used in perfumes made in England.
