Elephant Garlic CURLING

heinzheinz57July 7, 2011

The top half of my garlic is curling like a corkscrew, is this of concern?

I would like to send a pic but don't know how to attach to this message

Sounds like it's forming scapes (bloom stalks.) Normal behavior.

Here's a discussion of what to do with them.

That's interesting - many varieties of garlic do curl cork-screw-like but elephant garlic doesn't usually for us. The scapes do bend on ours sometimes, though.

Did they curl last year, too?
