Sweet Peas in Washington

kim009October 4, 2008

I am a new transplant to the Hockinson Hills area. My sister in California sent me sweet pea seeds to grow, but I have never grown them before and have no idea when or where is best to start them, especially for Washington. Does anyone have any information on how I can grow these sweet peas?

Usually planted early, at end of winter, as are edible peas. You may not be able to use seeds intended for this year, unless you get them to store in a viable condition until planting time next year.

In CA you'd be planting them now. Here, wait til spring. March or April.
