last of summer vegetables harvested

oliveoyl3October 8, 2011

Sad, but it had to be done as the weather is just too cool now for ripening the summer vegetables outside. We waited as long as possible...

Snip, snip & squash plants cut back for composting.

Snipped away & filled two five gallon buckets + a large bowl with unripe tomatoes. Each of us had a scissor in one hand & a container on the ground next to us. Snip & carefully put the tomatoes into the bucket. Snip away more tomato plant & pile it nearby.

The sunshine helped make it a pleasant afternoon chore, but I'm still a bit sad that summer is over. I sure wish we'd have a longer summer season here in the Seattle area.

I vote for a longer summer season in the Seattle Area as well ;)
