euonymus leaf drop?
Anyone else having Euonoymus japonica dropping leaves? I touched one bush while applying mulch and it did a little "leaf dance". I have 3 specimens (2 varieties) planted in 3 locations. All are in part sun (less than 4 hours direct sun).
Do you think it's from the cold snap? The lowest temperature here was 13 degrees under the eaves of our front porch.
Anything else you see in the pictures to indicate what's going on? What suggestions do you have to prevent further damage? I know to not prune now.
In the pictures you can see the discoloration on dying leaves. Leaves on ground are both normal and discolored. I didn't notice any insects on undersides of leaves. Pictures zoomed in on the stems so those of you familiar with woody plants could tell me if the brown is just the leaf nodes or something else is going on there.
Notice the very upright stems are very discolored. Plant #1 is near a sweet cherry tree.

Plant #2 located 20' away in another flower bed.
Plant #3 with small leaves located in the backyard in it's own pot.
Euonymus fortunei planted in several other garden locations are doing great!
