Schomburgkia's are one of my favourite genus:
This is one of the weird and dark looking blooms in my collection. No fragrance either!
? Aerides Rosea:
Pl correct me if this ID is wrong.
That's a pretty spectacular Schom. Is it as slow as mine? Although they are S American species they are not often seen here.
The spike is about 6-7 ft tall,it does take a loooong time, so they break for some reason or other- windstorms, basket ball etc.
nice pictures and I agree, the flowers are weird looking but look well grown.
A very diverse selection, but then I'm also eclectic in my orchid tastes. :)
My Schom. tibicinis stopped blooming on the 20th after 3 months.
Thanks all. Carol, the only criteria for my plants is that they should be warm growers and deal with the outside S Fl growing conditions. Usually the micro mini's get lost outside. I love the honking huge Schombo's.
hi, I think that if I lived in Florida, I would grow the giant sized orchids too. they have a definite dramatic appeal.
